Stanway Community Facility Public Art Totem Signage Commission Cover

More information

Colchester Borough Council is seeking proposals for a public art commission to develop totem signage on the site of the forthcoming new community facility located on the Stanway Western Bypass.

The Council has secured S106 funding to develop public art at this location. The selected artist(s) or creative team will lead on and oversee all stages of design, specification, manufacture and installation of works to develop totem signage which will be located on the community centre site and adjacent to the Western Bypass in Stanway.

It is critical that the team meet all technical and project management skills and processes required. This signage is part of a planning condition and as such will require approval from the local authority before it is installed.

A central part of the commission will be a high quality and creative approach to interpretation and information provision. It is also expected that any creative team will undertake a high level of community engagement and workshops with schools, care homes and groups as necessary to inform the proposals and to reflect the community’s ideas.
