Amazon Creates £2.5m Apprenticeship Fund Cover

More information

Amazon is launching an apprenticeship initiative as part of its commitment to support career opportunities and skills development across England. Using the company’s Apprenticeship Levy, the aim is to support small businesses selling on Amazon, Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers and smaller creative industry partners. These businesses will be able to upskill their workforce by taking on their own dedicated apprentices.

The £2.5 million Amazon Apprenticeship Fund is expected to help create an additional 200 apprenticeship opportunities in 2021. New roles are available in digital marketing, business administration, post-production technical operators, visual effects artists, broadcast and media technicians, DevOps engineers, AI data specialists, software development, data analysts and cyber security technologists, and more.

Lasting between 12 and 48 months, and covering apprenticeship standards funding of up to £27,000, apprentices will receive a mix of on-the-job and classroom training, together with specialist online learning provided by Amazon that focuses on building a successful e-commerce business, marketing and advertising products to customers, and selling to a global customer base.

Within the Fund, Amazon has set aside £1 million over two years specifically to support apprenticeship roles in the creative industries, including across film, TV, music and publishing.
Small businesses in the creative industries, together with AWS customers, small businesses selling on Amazon and local authorities that are interested in supporting new apprenticeship roles should email apprenticeshipfund@amazon.com where they will be put in touch with a member of the Amazon Apprenticeships team.

Support can be accessed at any time.
