Event information

Matthew Morgan-Stevens (Director, Actor, Lecturer in Acting) invites those with a passion for directing (from novice through to experienced!) to this practical two-day workshop focusing on a number of techniques for approaching text both inside and outside the rehearsal room. The aim of the workshop will be to introduce participants to a variety of ways of dealing with text (and actors!) and explore how to get the most out of rehearsals. Participants are encouraged to bring material from past/future directing projects, although scenes will also be provided if you’re not currently directing!

Cost: £60 for both days

Matthew trained at East 15 Acting School and, after a few years of touring theatre and festivals, found himself teaching at Colchester Institute on both the Acting and Musical Theatre courses, where he has directed a whole range of productions from full-scale Musicals to devised pieces on-board the Colne Lightship! He is currently studying for an MA in Actor Training and Coaching at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Recent experience includes: Assistant Director 'Of Mice and Men' (UK Tour), Director of Tom Allen’s ‘Life/Style’ (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Assistant Director 'Living History' (East 15 Acting School). Workshops with John Wright, Philippe Gaulier, Mel Churcher, Sarah Davey-Hull, John Gillett and Brigid Panet.
